Abstract

The design and construction is always complicated in the renovation project of the existing urban overpass bridge under the premise of ensuring both the safe railway operation and unimpeded urban traffic. Aiming at the multiple design control factors, narrow constructing site, urgent time limit and other restrictions, the secure and reasonable scheme has been made for the renovation project of Heyibei Overpass Bridge (Gaoyang Bridge) between highway and railway in Zhengzhou city. In the renovation scheme, the existing "U" shaped abutment was kept as the retaining wall for the new abutment in order to avoid the heavy excavation, and then the newly-buried abutment was built behind it. In order to make sure that the new railway clearance isn't below the existing clearance under the bridge, the pre-stressed-concrete hallow slab beam with small height and the large hinge joints are adopted. During the construction, cooperated with the crane, the equipment which can move the beam across the railway line is used to dismantle the existing "T" shaped beam and then erect a new beam. That can reduce the working time of operation above the railway track to the minimum value so as to ensure the operation safety of electrified railway and shorten the total construction period.
