Abstract
The paper provided a process for preparing zeaxanthin from lutein by basis catalysis. The process also included optimization of technic parameters. The results showed that the optimal reaction condition was as follows: using 1,2-pro-panediol as solvent, reaction time for 168 h and reaction temperature at 110 ℃ , under inert atmosphere. The ratio of 1,2-propanediol to lutein was 20,and the ratio of potassium hydroxide to lutein was 6. According to HPLC analysis,the yield of zeaxanthin can reach 93% under the optimal condition.
