Abstract
Objective To investigate the treatment effects of intensive insulin on stress hyperglycemia in patients with severe burn. Methods According to different glucose - lowering treatments, 32 patients with large area of burn complicated with stress hyperglycemia were divided into two groups, i.e. regular insulin group (A) and intensive insulin group (B). Analysis was made in the average changes of blood glucose and average dosage of insulin within 7 d of treatment and the hospital days before the first time surgery. Results Within 7 d of hospitalization, the random blood glucose decreased significantly in group B within the range of 4. 1 -6.3 mmol/L, and the used dosage of insulin was 14.6 - 19.4 U, which were significantly lower than those in group A. The hospital days before the first time surgery in group B was 3.4 -5.8 d, which was significantly shortened. Conclusion Among the patients with severe burn, intensive insulin can more promptly and effectively control the blood sugar and reduce the hospital days before the first surgery. It is an ideal treatment for hyperglycemia in patients with severe burn.关键词
