摘要

Abstract

The relationship between general education and citizen accomplishment is not a new topic. The paper aims to re-investigate this relationship from aspects of time stream, space expansion and individ-ual socialization. It is concluded in the paper that general education embodies the advance of times, the communications of the world. And it is necessary for students to integrate with the social communities. It may be interpreted differently in different times, cultures, and nations, and the goal, content, form, func- tions, and responsibilities of education may vary with the advance of time, but its essential functions can not be replaced. Malfunction of general education may lead to the failure of education and absence of a healthy civil society.
