High Accuracy Current Transformers With an Automatic Temperature Tracking System Based on FBG

Abstract
Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) was bonded to the giant magnetostrictive material (GMM), which was used as the sensor probe of the current transformer. The magnetic circuit system composed of silicon steel was used to restrict and guide the magnetic field generated by alternating currents into the sensor probe, to achieve the alternating current sensing. The sensor system has all-fiber structure and resistance to electromagnetic interference. As the fiber grating is the wavelength encoded device, an quadrature demodulation method based on distributed feedback (DFB) semiconductor lasers was presented in the paper. The demodulation method is simple and with high-precision. Wavelength information can be decoupled, while the impact on FBG wavelength shift by temperature can be excluded simultaneously, which solve the issue of cross-sensitivity to temperature and strain for FBG Experimental results show that the minimum measurable current of the transformer current is 0.33 A, the maximum measured current is 293.25 A, full-scale accuracy is up to 0.11%. By use of the tuning characteristics of DFB laser, the demodulation of FBG for fiber-optic current transformers was realized, the classical control theory PID algorithm was used to achieve the measurement of temperature and currents simultaneously.关键词
