Abstract
[ Objective ] To investigate the preliminary experience and clinical effect of laparoscopic gastric bypass in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. [Methods] Laparoscopic gastric bypass was performed for 2 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from August 2010 to June 2011 in the First People's Hospital of Foshan. We observed the preoperative and postoperative changes of diabetes index. [ Results 3 The operation was successfully performed without any complications. The operation average time was 180 min, and 20 mL blood was lost. After the operation, the patient's average BM I decreased 6kg/m2 in 3 months. Diabetes indicators returned to normal in the 3th postoperative day without any medication. [ Conclusions ] Laparoscopic gastric bypass is a relatively safe and simple procedure. The short term effects for weight reducing are optimal, and the procedure has good therapeutic effect on type 2 diabetes mellitus.
