Effect of General Practitioner Post Training in Guangzhou

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of general practitioner (GP) post training between 2009 and 2010 in Guangzhou. Methods A total of 199 GPs were selected from those who had participated in the GP post training between 2009 and 2010 using stratified random sampling. The selected GPs, their superiors and colleagues were asked to fill out the survey questionnaire. Results About 62. 81% (125/199) of the trainees rated the overall training scheme as "good" or "very good". The trainees' ratings for the trainer quality, curriculum arrangement, and trainer-trainee interaction were (4. 13 ±0. 66), (3.59± 0. 78), and (3. 58 ±0. 80), respectively (5 as full score). The trainees thought they had "improvement" or "great improvement of knowledge and skills in " health care for key population" ," health education" , and " community first aid" . The trainees' superiors and colleagues thought highly of the performance of the trainees after the training with improvement in over 90% of all services. Conclusion The GP training scheme has achieved certain effect. However, the curriculum arrangement and trainer-trainee interaction could be improved. Clinical diagnosis and treatment skills, medical management capacity and research ability should be focused and enhanced in future training schemes.关键词
