Protective Effects of Brucine against Chronic Gastritis and Precancerous Lesions of Gastric Cancer Model Rats

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effect of brucine against chronic gastritis and precancerous lesions of gastric cancer in rats. METHODS: The chronic gastritis and precancerous lesions of gastric cancer model in rats was induced by intra-gastric administration of 2% sodium salicylate added into 30% alcohol. The rats were divided into 4 groups, i.e. normal group (isovolumic NS),model group(isovolumic NS)and brucine high-dose and low-dose groups (4, 1 mg·kg-1), and the pH value of diluted gastric acid was determined by acidimeter; the histopathological changes such as the inflammatory degrees in gastric muco-sa, the morphology and structure of parietal cells were observed; the thickness of mucosa was measured by micrometer under optical microscope. RESULTS: Compared with model group, the secretion of gastric acid increased significantly in brucine groups (P＜ 0.01 or P＜0.05), the thickness of gastric mucosa was significantly thicker than before (P＜0.05), the gastric mucosal inflammation were relieved. The pathological changes of parietal cells were improved significantly. CONCLUSION: Two doses of brucine (1 and 4 mg·kg-1) show a significant prevention and treatment effect on chronic gastritis and precancerous lesions of gastric cancer in rats.关键词
