摘要

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To improve the identification method of camphor in Compound menthol nasal drops in Preparations Standard for Medical Institution in Chongqing (2008 edition). METHODS: UV spectrophotometry (standard method) and differential spectrophotometry were used to identify camphor, and the results of them were compared. RESULTS: By UV spectrophotometry, the maximum absorption of 289 nm wavelength hadn't been obtained; using the same batch of liquid paraffin as blank control , the impact of liquid paraffin on identification could be eliminated, differential spectrophotometry could get the maximum absorption of 289 nm wavelength, but the impact of different batches of liquid paraffin still existed. The improved differential spectrophotometry could eliminate the impact of the different batches of liquid paraffin on the determination of camphor, and obtained the maximum absorption at wavelength of 289 nm. CONCLUSION: The improved differential spectrophotometry is easy to operate and more accurate with better reproducibility and stability, and it can be used for the identification of camphor in Compound menthol nasal drops
