Mitochondrial dysfunction and insulin resistance
摘要
Abstract
Insulin resistance plays an important role in the patho-genesis of obesity, metabolic syndrome, type; 2 diabetes mellitii and complication, cardiometabolic syndrome. Recent years, accumulative studies show that mitochondrial dysfunction is related to insulin resistance. Glucose and lipid metabolism are largely dependent on mitochondria to generate energy in cells. Genetic factors, ROS, aging, and reduced mitochondrial biogenesis all contribute to mitochondrial dysfunction. These factors also contribute to insulin resistance in classic and nonclassic insulin target tissues. This review discusses the mechanisms of mitochondria! dysfunction related to the pat ho physiology of insulin resistance.关键词
