Abstract
Protean kinase: C ( PKC ) comprises a multigeme family of related se:rine/threonine kinases that sit at the crossroads of many signed transeinetion pathways, playing an important reile with eomples funetieins. Phosphatieiylinositeil 4, 5-hisphosphate ( PIP, ) is a key signaling molecule in ceil membrane; it is not einly the precursor elf sellable inetsitetl phetsphate ( IP, ) anel dia-cylglyccrol ( DAG ), it can also ae-t as a sceonel messenge:r itscif. Phospheolipase C ( PLC ) hydrolyzes PIP2 to generate memhrane- hounel DAG, which aetivates PKC, and IP3 , which mobilizes in-traeellular caleinm to regulate the activity etf PKC. The ae'tivation of PKC ine-re:ase:s the aetivity of PI4 kinase or PIP5 kinase to en-hanee the synthesis of PIP,.
