Distribution Feature of SiC in Spray Deposition Al-SiCp Composite after Hot Extrusion

Abstract
A billet of SiCp/Al composite was fabricated by the technique of multi-layer spray deposition, and extrusion deformation was carried out at different extrusion ratio, the effect of working processes on the distribution feature of SiC particles was investigated. The results show that more SiC particles are at the surface of the droplet and less in the inner because SiC particles adhere mainly to the surface of the alloy droplets during deposition. Thus, the distribution of SiC particles in the composite is characteristic of the layered feature. This layered feature of SiC particles is difficult to eliminate by the following hot extrusion. The distribution of SiC particles is like streamline in the longitudinal direction, while with ring-like feature in the transverse direction. A higher extrusion ratio results in an more uniform distribution of SiC particles.关键词
