Abstract
Ductile iron samples with different wall-thickness were cast with the same one ladle of molten metal, the pinhole defects was found in some of the wall-thickness castings. The formation mechanics of blowholes in the nodular iron castings was discussed, and the formation time of blowholes was also studied. The results show that the forming of blowholes is relative to the wall thickness of castings, and is the gaming results between the oxide films forming and the bubbles migration. Raising the carbon equivalent is useful to avoid the forming of blowholes for the castings having sensitive thickness.关键词
