Abstract
Objective To explore the expression and significance of Wnt-3a and β-catenin in normal cervical, cer-
vical intraepithelial neoplasla( CIN ) and squamous carcinoma of the cervix ( SCC ). Methods Wnt-3a and β-cate-nin were detected by SP-immunohistochemistry in 20 cases of normal cervical( the normal group ), 24 cases of CIN ( the CIN group )and 56 cases of SCC( the SCC group ). Results The expression of Wnt-3a and β-catenin in normal cervical, CIN and SCC were rising gradually and the differences among three groups were significant( P <0 0. 05 ). The abnormal expression of β-catenin was positive correlated with histological grade, but was not correlated with clinical stages. However, there was no correlation for Wnt-3a expression. In SCC, there was positive correlation between Wnt-3a and β-catenin( r =0. 181 ). Conclusion Wnt-3a and β-catenin were related to the process of malignant transformation of cervical squamous epithelium, which may play important roles in the development from CIN to SCC.关键词
