摘要

Abstract

Kenneth Burke thinks that we live in a dramatized world and the theory of dramatism is constructed on the basis of the notion, which is more feasible and workable in practice. "Dramatic Pentad" and "Rhetoric of Rebirth" are the main elements in the theory. Dramatistic rhetorical criticism regards advertising discourse as a symbolic drama from linguistic signs. By interpre- ting the fore - grounded "reality" in the discourse, it will be more effective in revealing the "naturalized" commercial ideological motivation, which serves as a new perspective to understand the power mechanism hidden in the discourse with a view to heighte- ning the awareness of rhetorical criticism. It is also demonstrated that the concept of "Ternfinistic Screen" plays a guiding role in understanding the construction of reality and production of knowledge.
