Application of Plant Extracts in Ruminant Feeding
摘要
Abstract
Plant extracts which have many biologically active components, such as alkaloids, saponins, essential oil, tannins and polysaccharides, can be used to replace antibiotics. In recent years, some plant extracts have been applied in animal feeding. This article especially reviewed the application of plant extracts in ruminant feeding, such as increasing feed intake and feed digestibility, inhibiting methane generation, enhancing by-pass protein flow, regulating rumen fermentation pattern and improving products quality, and the problems and application prospects of plant extracts were also discussed.
