摘要

Abstract

CdS nanorods were synthesized via a hydrothermal route in NaOH solution and characterized by scanning electron microscopy ( SEM ) , powder X-ray diffraction ( XRD ) , transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy ( HRTEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED). The influences of NaOH concentration and hydrothermal time on morphology and crystalline structure of CdS nanorods were studied, and a probable growth mechanism was proposed. The feasibility of recycling of mother liquor was also investigated. The visible light photocatalytic activity of CdS nanorods was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB). The experimental results showed that NaOH solution played a role of complexing agent in the growth of CdS nanorods and was the key factor in the formation of rod-like morphology. The sample obtained in optimal experimental condition was CdS nanorod with an average diameter of ca. 200 nm and a length up to ca. 4 |im. The CdS nanorods were hexagonal single-crystals with high crystallinity growing along the [001 ] direction, and showed good photocatalytic activity and stability under visible light.
