Abstract
Objective To analyze the facial characteristics for samples of Guangdong province young adults with normal occlusion and well balanced face, and to provide a reference for the orthodontic treatment and the maxillofacial surgeon. Methods Facial photographs were taken from 60 samples (30 men,30 women) who have normal occlusion and well balanced face with centric relations, natural position and rest lip position. The facial variables were measured by Vistadent OC analysis software. To compare males and females, a Student' s t-test was used. Results Lower facial height is shorter than middle facial height. The length of lower lip is twice of upper lip. Facial height and Hp length have statistic significance in gender ( P < 0. 05 ). Nasofrontal angle (t - -2. 181, P = 0. 028 ) , nasofacial angle (t = -1.087,P=0.041) , nasomental angle (t=0. 301, P = 0.001) and mentocervical angle (t = -0.231, P=0.001) have statistic significance in gender ( P < 0.05 ). Nasofronta! Angle and nasofaeial angle were larger in females. Nasofrontal nasomental angle and mentocervical angle were more acute in females. In addition, the facial angle has no statistic significance in gender (t=0. 107, P= 0.578). Conclusion It established the normative data of facial characteristics for samples of Guangdong province young adults who have normal occlusion and well balanced face. The normative data can be used as a reference for diagnosis and treatment planning in the orthodontic treatment and the maxillofaeial surgeon.关键词
