Preliminary studies on biological effects of Lilium lancifolium radiation mutagenesis and its variation

Abstract
This research explored the biological radiation effects, various characteristics, and mutagenic effect of medicinal and consumable dual-purpose Lilium lancifolium. [Method]Using Hunan Longshan Lilium lancifolium as test material, 4 different doses of 60Co-γ, radiation processing in 0-3 Gy were used to treat bulb and to analyze the radiation characteristics and variations of progeny. [Result]After the seedlings were treated with 0, 1, 2, and 3 Gy 60Co-γ, the seedling rates were 100, 100, 60, and 0%, respectively. Mutagenesis of the first vegetative generation Lilium lancifolium (VM|) appeared to be more visibly radiation-damaged; also, the plant height, stem diameter, builbil number per plant, and fresh bulb weight decreased as the irradiation dosage increased. The three consistent variations of the second vegetative generation LJlium lancifolium (VM2), plant height, builbil number per plant, and bulb weight, displayed clear separations. By the 1 Gy 60Co-γ, treatment, large variations amongst the characteristics were detected. [Conclusion]The appropriate dosage of ray was 2 Gy 60Co-γ, for Lilium lancifolium bulb. Using 60Co-γ, ray radiation mutagenesis displayed obvious effects on Lilium lancifolium, in which one of the superior Lilium lancifolium variant strains could be selected.关键词
