Influence of different connectors on mechanical performance of composite box girder with corrugated steel webs

Abstract
In order to learn the effect of different types of shear connectors on mechanical performance of the composite box girder bridge with corrugated steel webs, a research study testing the three types of connectors between the corrugated steel webs will be examined. The three types of connectors, along with the concrete upper/lower slab, which are goggle pins connectors, PBL connections and steel encased concrete connectors, are all identified within the research. The research study also assessed the effects of the three types of connectors on mechanical behavior of the composite box girder. The results indicate that the shear capacity of three types of connectors can all satisfy the design specification and the boundary slip of three types of connectors is not apparent. However, steel encased concrete types of connectors have better stiffness,anti-crack and bearing capacity. Therefore, the steel encased concrete connector has excellent mechanical performance results, compared to the other two types of connectors and is a more suitable connector for the composite box girder bridge with corrugated steel webs. The typical shear connector should be widely adopted in the composite box girder bridge engineering.关键词
