Abstract

Two hundred and forty newly born broilers (ROSS 308) were assigned to four experimental treatments (Group 1 to 4). Aureomycin was used in diets of Group 1 and 2, and Bacillus Subtilis feed additive substituted Aureomycin in diets of Group 3 and 4. The broilers of Group 1 and 3 were reared on the cement floor, and Group 2 and 4 in cages. In the experimental period of 42 days, the final body weight and feed efficiency (ratio of feed intake to body weight gain) of broilers in Group 4 were superior (P<0. 05) to Group l,and those of Group 2 and 3 broilers were no differences (P>0. 05). For the serum biochemistry determined in the age of 21-d or 42-d broilers, the serum albumin concentrations of Group 4 were higher than Group 1. The serum uric acid and sugar concentrations of Group 4 were lower than Group 1. There were no differences between Group 2 and 3 for all serum biochemistry determined in this experiment. These findings proved that feed additive Bacillus Subtilis could improve broiler growth performance in both floor and cage rearing systems by enhancing the feed protein digestibility and utilization.
