Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the suitable measuring position of pepper leaf by SPAD-502. In order to evaluate the distribution characteristic and stabilization of SPAD reading at different measuring positions on the same leaf, SPAD readings of different pepper leaf position and different measuring position on the same pepper leaf were measured. The result showed that the SPAD reading and stabilization varied with the measuring position on the same pepper leaf. The SPAD reading measured at 40%-50% or 50%?60% from the basal of leaf was close to the average SPAD reading of leaf and stable. Therefore, based on a comprehensive consideration of representativeness and stabilization of SPAD reading, about 50% from the basal of leaf was suitable measuring position, when using SPAD to evaluate the chlorophyll of pepper leaf.
