Abstract

Along with urbanization and industrialization,lead pollution in a city has a heavy side effect on the urbanecological system. Therefore the study of response of the enzyme system in woody plant species to the lead stress is important for the urban ecological system. Studies on the enzyme characteristics and mechanism of leaves in Loropetalum chinese ( R. Rr. ) Oliv. , Platycladus orientalis ( L. ) Endll, Acacia famesiana ( Linn. ) Willd, Populusdeltoides x Populus nigara were carried out under four lead gradient (0,300,450,600 mg· kg-1 and the control sample without lead). The changes in their enzyme system were measured and analysed under the lead stress. The results were as follows). Under lead conditions, the activity of SOD, and POD of Populusdeltoides x Populus nigara, Platycladus orientalis ( L. ) Endll and Loropetalum chinese ( R. Rr. ) Oliv. was markedly higher than that of the the activity of SOD, and POD of Populusdeltoides x Populus nigara was the highest, reaching 800 U · g-1 and 103 U · g-1 . min-i respectively,while Acacia famesiana (Linn.)Willd decreased when the lead stress was over 300 mg ·kg-1. There was significantly different activity of CAT among four woody species. All the results showed that there were different responses on lead-stress among four woody species and their anti-lead pollution ability was Populusdeltoides x Populus nigara 〉 Loropetalum chinese ( R. Rr. ) Oliv. 〉 Platycladus orientalis ( L. ) Endll 〉 Acacia famesiana ( Linn. ) Willd.
