Abstract

igh performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization multi-stage tandem mass spectrometry ( HPLC-ESI-MSn) was applied to analyze curcuminoids in Curcuma longa L.. Atfer ultrasonic extraction with methanol, the sample was separated on a Venusil XBP C18 column (2.1 × 150 mm,5 μm, Agilent Technology) by gradient elution with acctonitrilc and water as mobile phases. Based on their retention times and mass spectra,from both positive and negative ion modes analysis,28 curcuminoids were identified or tentatively identified. Among these 28 compounds,curcu-min, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin were identified by comparing their chromatographic and spectral data with those of authentic standard compounds. The others were tentatively identified based on comparison to the three curcuminoids and literatures. MS2 breaking laws of eight compounds were illustrated which had not been previously reported. This article would provide reference for further study of curcuminoids in C. longa. L..
