Dosimetry Influence of X-Ray Generated from Varian 23EX Accelerator with Low Monitor Unit

Abstract
Objective To discuss the dosimetry influence of X-ray generated from Varian 23EX accelerator with low monitor unit. Methods The output dose rate was set as 300 MU/min with X-ray of Varian 23EX accelerator. X-ray of 6 and 15 MV were calibrated, then absorbed doses of low monitor unit(l~10 MU) were measured and compared with corresponding ones. The influence on start-up characteristics of accelerator with 6 and 15 MV was analyzed. Radiation quality(D20/D10) of low monitor unit was measured and compared with D20/D10 by conventional measure; percent depth dose(PDD) of low monitor unit was measured and compared with that of conventional measure. Results The influence on absorbed dose of X-ray was great at low monitor unit, with the maximum error of -11.00%; the influence on D20/D10 PDD was little, with the maximum error of 0.340% and 0.483%. Conchusion The influence on absorbed dose of the accelerator with low monitor unit from different factories and with different models and output dose rates has to be examined periodically.关键词
