Optimal Damping Control Systems Based on Coordination Between Units and Grid

Abstract
With the constant expansion of power systems, small signal stability is one important factor on power system security and stability. In order to effectively damping power system oscillations of small disturbance, this paper presented a damping control system based on coordinated optimization between generator units and power grid. Using hybrid control system ideas and concepts, this paper considered the coordination between automatic generation control (AGC) system and automatic voltage control (AVC) system, and set up a hierarchical coordinated optimal damping control (CODC) system. The CODC system used the power system damping strength as indicators of the formation of the event, and used discrete event-driven as adjustable trigger mechanism. The CODC system can improve the weak damping, and effectively overcome the negative interaction between traditional AGC and AVC system caused by the coupling of active and reactive power. And this system achieves optimized coordination instructions between AGC and AVC. Finally, as an illustration, the proposed method was applied to the IEEE 5-machine 14-node system under various operation states, and. the computer simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed theory and method.关键词
