Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) cycle on lowering dispensing error rate of out-patient pharmacy. METHODS: According to the dispensing error rates of out-patient pharmacy in our hospital before PDCA cycle (Oct.- Dec. 2011), the target of decreasing by 50% was formulated and the countermeasures were developed after reason analysis. The implementation process of PDCA cycle was summarized, and the related standard was formulated on the basis of previous experience. The dispensing error rates after PDCA cycle (Apr. - Jun. 2011) was compared with before. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS : Countermeasures include studying and informing regulation of the new-coming drug, experience communication, regular operation rules training, warning market of easy mistake and special personnel for sequencing maintenance. Compared with before PDCA cycle, the dispensing error rates of out-patient pharmacy decrease significantly after PDCA cycle (1.025‰ vs. 0.340‰, P<0.05), decreasing by above 50% , which indicate that the dispensing error rate of out-patient pharmacy could be lowered effectively by PDCA cycle method.关键词
