Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Sanqi Tongshu Capsules in Treatment of Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Sanqi Tongshu Capsules, -which are prepared from Panax notoginseng and used for promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, in the treatment of ischemic stroke by a systematic review. Methods A literature search was performed using net-work databases including CNKI, CBM, CQVIP, and Wangfang Data according to certain inclusion and exclusion criteria; the literature included the papers on treatment of ischemic stroke -with Sanqi Tongshu Capsules published up to July 2012. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated systematically, and relevant data were extracted. A meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5. 1. Results A total of 9 studies -were included in the analysis. There -were no significant heterogeneity among the studies (χ2 = 10. 20, degree of freedom= 8, P= 0. 25 , I2 = 22%). The experimental group (treated with Sanqi Tongshu capsules) showed a significantly better response than the control group (receiving conventional treatment) (OR=3. 34 ,95% ,CI = 2. 30 - 4. 84). Conclusion Sanqi Tongshu Capsules have better clinical efficacy than conventional treatment in ischemic stroke and show promise for clinical application.关键词
