摘要

Abstract

With the ever-widening application of large-scale battery energy storage station (BESS) to the power system, protection schemes are becoming increasingly essential to the BESS and the distributed network where it is accessed. This paper describes the structure of megawatt-level BESS, the connection mode and the grounding way first. Then focus is on the DC system of BESS and the characteristics of electrical quantities are analyzed when pole-to-pole fault and pole-to-earth fault occurred in different DC systems. Protection strategies for pole-to-pole fault and pole-to-ground fault in DC system are put forward based on the results of fault analysis. Grounded supervision of non-grounding DC system is also proposed. Finally, the characteristics of the faults and protection strategies are verified by the simulation of PSCAD/EMTDC.
