Abstract
A new fault location algorithm based on fault component from finite synchronized phasor measurement units (PMUs) is presented. The algorithm utilizes one-bus-spaced-placement strategy to distribute PMUs. This algorithm can be used to locate fault position when PMU is installed at only one end of a transmission line. Pure system fault model is obtained first using the superposition principle. This model is then transferred into the system impedance equivalent model and the transferring model of injection current source on fault point; subsequently the fault position can be obtained. The algorithm is computationally efficient without the need for iteration operations and is not subject to fault solutions. It will not be affected by factors such as system topology, transition resistance, oscillation and system operation modes. Dynamic simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.关键词
