Abstract

In recent years, frequent abnormal fusing occurred in high voltage fuses with rated current of 0.5A for potential transformers (PT) of Daqing oilfield distribution network seriously affect the secure and reliable operation of the distribution system. In allusion to this defect, firstly the statistical analysis on the fusing failure of HV fuse for PT is performed; secondly by means of EMTP-based simulation and experiments the reasons causing abnormal fusing of HV fuse are analyzed in both aspects of system transient characteristics and fusing characteristics of HV fuse. Analysis results show that the abnormal fusing of HV fuse is a comprehensive problem, caused by combined impacts of system transient characteristics and fusing characteristics of HV fuse for PT. On this basis, a countermeasure is proposed, that is, the rated current of 0.5A of HV fuse for PT is upgraded to 2A. the effectiveness of the proposed countermeasure is verified by operating results of pilot substation.
