Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevalence of deciduous dental caries and the risk factors in first grade primary school students in Chancheng District of Foshan City, thus to provide scientific bases for prevention and treatment on caries. Methods A sample of 291 first grade primary school students was selected using random cluster sampling method. The caries of deciduous teeth were examined and the questionnaires were sent to their parents. The data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software package. Results The caries prevalence rate of deciduous teeth was 33.7% ,with mean dmft 0. 97. There was no significant difference of prevalence rate between two genders (P > 0. 05). Logistic regression analysis showed that number of child in the family, the main beverages everyday , and the frequency of intake of sweet food, were risk factors of deciduous dental caries. Conclusion It was important to strengthen the education of the oral hygiene knowledge, to change dietetic habits, and to introduce good oral hygiene habits.关键词
