Abstract
Objective To restore tooth defect of endodontically treated premolars and molars with full-ceramic onlays, and to study the clinical effect of these onlays. Methods One hundred and twenty-eight molars and 45 premolars were restored with E-max onlays after root canal therapy. After 1 year, 2 years and 3 years, patients were recalled for clinical study according to the modified USPHS criteria. Results The loss of follow-up after 1 year, 2 years and 3 years are 3, 3 and 8 restorations. None of their onlays fell out or none of them has severe tooth fracture after 3 years; 0. 6% ( 1/165 ) secondary caries and 3% (5/165) porcelain fracture occurred; 90% (149/165) and 10% (16/165) were ascribed to A and B of color match ; 97% ( 160/165) had A-level marginal fit and contact. Conclusion It is a reliable method to restore tooth defect after root canal therapy with E-max full-ceramic onlays. However, the long term effect is still to be observed.关键词
