Abstract

[Objective]This research aimed to solve the management problems in Hericium erinaceus and other fungi productions in hot and arid valley regions. [Method]Under the special natural climate conditions in hot and arid valley regions, a set of specialized H. erinaceus mushroom environmental control system was designed and the spray ventilation mode and mushroom bag-covering materials in environmental control system were optimized. [ Result ]The environmental control systemof H. erinaceus mushroom in the hot and arid valley regions was composed of "mushroom fruiting standard + automatic spray humidification and ventilation device + non-woven fabrics". The optimized conditions of environmental control plan were: after the mushroom hyphae were grown with mushroom bags, put the mushroom bags into standard mushroom fruiting stacks, stack them up 5 layers high, cover the layers with non-woven fabrics, open the automatic timing humidification and ventilation switch, set the ventilation spray time every 30 min (1 min every time) during daytime hours (9:00-22:00), and after spraying ventilation for 2 min during night hours (22:00-9:00) at 22:00, close the ventilation machine for the night. Compared with the local traditional production method, the optimization scheme increased the fruiting rate and sporocarp yield by 24.5 and 56.3%, respectively, and the malformation rate dropped by nearly 7 times. [Conclusion]Utilizing the "mushroom fruiting standard + automatic spray humidification and ventilation device + non-woven fabrics" environmental control system for shedding management, the H. erinaceus fruiting rate and sporocarp yield were greatly improved and the mushroom malformation rate was greatly reduced, which successfully achieved high production rate and stable yield of H. erinaceus. Also, the control system was effortless to assemble, easy to use, and cheap to purchase, which could be applied to the automation management of other edible or elite medicinal fungi.
