Screening of Endophytic Fungi with Antibacterial,Antioxidant and Antitumor Activities from Mangrove Plants

摘要

Abstract

25 strains endophytic fungi were isolated from mangrove plants Sonneratia apetala, Sesuvium portulacastrum and Kandelia candel. Using the filter paper disc agar diffusion method, the radical scavenging methods ( DPPH,·OH and ABTS+ ) and MTT assay, the antibacterial, antioxidant and antitumor activities of the ethyl acetate extracts of the fermentation broths were studied. As a result, 12 strains showed antibacterial activity to one tested bacterium at least, accounting for 48% of the total tested strains. 3 ,12 and 8 strains showed strong radical scavenging activities ( 0 mg/mL < EC50≤1 mg/mL ) to DPPH radical,·OH radical and ABTS+ radical, respectively. 8 strains showed significant inhibition against HepG2 tumor cells or HeLa tumor cells. The result indicated that the endophytic fungi from mangrove plants were important resources which produce rich antibacterial, antioxidant and antitumor substances.
