摘要

Abstract

Undersea cables play key roles in remote power supply, high voltage power transmission, communication, signal transmission as well as keeping offshore platforms work well. Once the undersea cables break down, there will be a sharp decline in production, and the communication between offshore drilling platforms will be suspended as well. Distributed undersea cable monitoring system built using GIS and Brillouin scattering theorem can achieve fast and accurate fault location positioning, and simultaneously provide relevant information of the surrounding of fault cables and the malfunction causes as well as preliminary scheme of fault handling. Thus the real-time monitoring undersea cable is further implemented, which benefits the reduction of significant economic losses incurred from undersea cables faults.
