Computational Analysis of Closed Wet Cooling Towers

Abstract
The thermal performance of closed wet cooling tower has been predicted based on computational model by adopting different heat and mass transfer coefficients obtained by experiments. The outlet process water temperature and heat transfer rate are obtained under different operating conditions and compared with Hasan' s experimental data. The maximum derivation of heat transfer rate by Mizushina' correlations are up to 37. 12% , whereas the predicted results by Hasan' correlations compare well with Hasan' experimental data. It is recommended that the heat and mass transfer coefficients with the same operating and structure parameters are employed to predict the thermal performance with various operating conditions, otherwise significant error may be obtained. It can be useful for the reasonable prediction of the thermal performance of closed wet cooling towers.关键词
