Sustainability of Industrial System Based on Emergy

Abstract
During operations, most of the industrial production systems inevitably produce some pollutants which are harmful to the environment. In this paper, aiming at the situation that little effects on environment of wastes discharged are considered during the emergy analysis for industrial systems, the development sustainability of sulfuric acid plant was analyzed for before and after pollutants discharge adopting traditional and improved emergy indicators. The results showed that, the improved indicators performed better in reflecting the characteristics of industrial system; there was no change of the system energy yield rate with consideration of the impact of pollutants emergy, while the environmental loading rate increased and the environmental sustainability reduced.关键词
