摘要
Abstract
Objective To explore the relation between metabolic syndrome (MS) and prostate volume of elderly cadres. Methods A total of 198 elderly cadres aged from 60 to 92 years old were divided into two groups, MS group and control group, according to the diagnostic criteria of MS by CDS in 2004. Blood pressure, height and body weight were measured and the body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Biochemical assays included fasting plasma glucose, TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C,uric acid (UA) , glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and prostate specific antigen (PSA). Prostate volume (TP) was measured by trans-abdominal ultrasonography. Results Compared with control group, the BMI, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, TG, TP, fasting plasma glucose, TC were higher in MS group (P < 0. 01) , and UA, LDL-C were also higher in MS group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between MS group and control group in terms of HDL-C, HbA1c and PSA (P >0.05). The TP in MS group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01). The TP was positively correlated with PSA level, age, BMI and diastolic blood pressure, LDL-C,and fasting plasma glucose, while was negatively correlated with HDL-C (P <0.01). Conclusions The TP in MS group is more than that in non-MS group (P <0.01). The early and active control on MS can slow down the development of prostate hyperpla-sia and its symptoms level.关键词
