Abstract

Within hydrological forecast system, the power for telemetry station is conventionally supplied by solar energy with battery. Due to the limitations from the service life and charging efficiency of the battery, it has to be maintained or replaced with the intervals of 2 ~ 3 years. The transport, maintenance and replacement of the battery are really onerous work for the telemetry station in a remote region, especially, in a mountainous area. Aiming at the power supply for the telemetry station in the hydrological forecast system, a solution scheme of replacing battery with super capacitor is given herein. With the merits such as long working life, less leakage current, high charging efficiency, strong capability of deep discharge, wide range of working temperature, maintenance-free, etc. , the super capacitor is to be the first selection for the telemetry station in the days to come.
