Abstract
Objective To study the clinicopathologic characteristics of retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Methods The clinical information, image data and pathologic features of 16 cases of retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma were reviewed. The follow-up data available were analyzed. Results Among 16 cases, 10 came for treatment due to recurrence. CT showed clearly the size of the tumor and the extrusion effect to the surrounding organs. From the morphological observation, the tumor contained differentiated and dedifferentiated sarcoma, the following features may be found in dedifferentiated liposarcoma: fibrosarcoma, pleomorphic malignant fibrous histiocytoma-like, malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor-like, leiomyosarcoma-like, rhabdomosarcoma-like, angiosarcoma-like, haemangiopericytoma-like. The tumor may contain one histological feature, or may contain several components. All 16 cases were treated with operation, 9 cases resected the tumor only, and other 7 cases removed the tumor and surrounding adherent organs. None recurred or metastasized after the surgery within the follow-up (3-24 months). Conclusion Dedifferentiated liposarcoma areas in DDL exhibit a variable histological picture, low-grade and high-grade sarcoma may coexist in the same tumor. Surgical resection is still the most effective treatment for DDLs to relieve symptoms and to prolong life.关键词
