Abstract

Analysis of earth-rock dam slope stability during drawdown of reservoir water level is one of important contents in earth-rock dam design and reinforcement projects. In order to accurately and reasonably analyze the dam slope stability during drawdown of reservoir water level, this paper applies finite element method to analyze the dam slope stability for a dilapidated reservoir, based on the fluid-solid coupling theory of unsaturated soil. The results are compared with the traditional limit equilibrium method. The effect of material parameters on slope stability is analyzed. The results show that the finite element method based on unsaturated soil fluid-solid coupling theory is an convenient and reasonable method. The distribution of pore water pressure and the stability factor of dam slope calculated by this method are well consistent with practice. The internal friction angle and the cohesion has much larger influence on the stability factor of dam slopes the Poissons ratio has relatively small influence ,but the Young's modulus almost has no influence on the stability factor.
