摘要

Abstract

Objective To study the changes and clinical significance of serum glulamale concenlralions and Na+ - K+ - AT-Pase activities in newborns with hyperbilirubinaemia. Methods Ninety - one newborns with hyperbilirubinaemia in varying severity and 32 controls were recruited in this sludy; their serum glulamale concenlralions and Na+ - K+ - ATPase aclivilies were delecled u-sing Beckman amino acid analyzer and colorimelry. At one lime,lhey received hearing test and later interview. Results Serum glulamate concenlrations and Na+ - K+ -ATPase aclivilies were (61.34 ±11.40) μmol/L and (0.212 ±0.026) μmolPi/(mg o h) , respectively, in newborns with hyperbilirubinaemia, significaully differenl from those in conlrols (P <0. 01) , and the changes of them were closely relaled to lotal bilirubin level. The incidence of hearing disorder also increased in high bilirubin neonales. Conclusions High glulamale level and low Na+ - K+ - ATPase aclivilies in newborns wilh hyperbilirubinaemia are possibly closely relaled lo toxicily of bilirubin, the changes of them are likely lo predict early the risk of brain disease in newborns wilh hyperbilirubinaemia.
