Abstract

A nano-SiO2 hybrid fluorinated polyacrylate emulsion(FLDV-SiO2 ) as well as its physical and performance properties on fabrics were investigated by IR,EDS,XRD,TGA and other instruments. Experiment results indicated that the FLDV-SiO2 emulsion was cationic and had a mean ζ voltage of about +45. 26 mV. The particle sizes (Φ) of FLDV-SiO2 emulsion were between 50~200 nm and 300~1 000 nm. FLDV-SiO2 could form a rugged polymer film on the polyester fibers/fabrics, which could provide the treated fabrics with a strong hy-drophobicity and oil-repellency. As a result, the water contact angle on such fabrics reached as high as 156. 4°,and the water- and oil-repellency respectively achieved 100 and grade 6. In addition, the amount of FLDV-SiO2 emulsion and the cure temperature have effects on FLDV-SiO2 performance. As the dosage of FLDV-SiO2 emulsion increased in application, the water- and oil-repellency of fabrics treated by FLDV-SiO2 were significantly raised. Meanwhile, the high temperature allowed FLDV-SiO2 to show better performance on the treated fabrics.
