Abstract

Experimental studies were carried out on a bench-scale slurry transportation facility to investigate rheological features, wall slip and drag resistance of sludge coke slurry (SCS). A numerical technique based on Tikhonov regularization was used to determine the true rheological characteristics and slip behavior at the pipe wall. The results show that: water coke slurry (WCS) is dilatant fluid and sewage sludge can alter its rheological properties. When mixing sewage sludge by proportion of 5% in mass into WCS, shear thickening property of the WCS is weakened. When sewage sludge proportion reaches up to 10%, WCS changes from dilatant fluid to pseudo-plastic fluid as shear rate increase. Slip velocity of WCS has an accelerating growth trend with increase of shear rate; the trend is reverse as sewage sludge is added into the WCS. Drag coefficient of WCS in pipe flow is larger than that of SCS when an amount of sewage sludge is added into the WCS. Drag reduction rate of WCS increases with ascending velocity, while that of SCS containing sewage sludge decreases with ascending velocity.
