Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of powder - free sterile gloves in preventing mechanical phlebitis caused by peripherally inserted central catheter ( PICC ) in tumor patients. Methods A total of 126 tumor patients receiving PICC as the first chemotherapy from March 2009 to March 2011 were divided into groups control ( n = 60 , not using powder - free gloves ), study ( n = 66 , using powder - free gloves ). The incidence of mechanical phlebitis were compared between 2 groups. Results In study group, 56 had 0 - grade mechanical phlebitis, 2 2-grade, 2 3-grade, 6 4-grade; In control group 56 0 -grade, 2 3 -grade, 2 4 - grade. The difference was significant ( u = -2. 017 , P = 0.04). Conclusion Powder - free sterile gloves can be effective in reducing the degree of mechanical phlebitis caused by PICC.关键词
