Abstract
Objective To analyze the association between interleukin ( IL ) - 18 gene promoter region of- 137 G/C single nucleotide polymorphism ( SNP ) and the incidence and rupture of intracranial aneurysm ( IAs ) . Methods 98 IAs patients ( IAs group ) and 97 non - cerebrovascular disease patients ( control group ) admitted to Neurosurgery Department of Hebei United University affiliated to Kailuan General Hospital and Tangshan City Hospital from March 2008 to October 2009 were involved into the study, and the 98 IAs patients were further divided into rupture group and non - rupture group. The genotype frequency and allele frequency of IL - 18 gene - 137G/C SNP of involved patients were detected by using case - control study, poly-merase chain reaction - restriction fragment length polymorphism ( PCR - RFLP ) and DNA direct sequencing. The relationship between the distribution of IL - 18 gene - 137G/C and the occurrence and rupture of IAs was observed. Results The distribution of genotype and allele of IL - 18 gene - 137G/C SNP between IAs group and control group showed statistically significant differences (x2 =14.156, P=0.000; x2 =20.663, P = 0.000), and most genotypes were GG, followed by GC and CC. Most al-leles were G. The frequency of allele G between IAs group and control group showed statistically significant difference ( P < 0. 05 ). The distribution of genotype and allele of IL - 18 gene - 137G/C SNP between rupture group and non - rupture group showed statistically significant differences (x2= 10. 541, P =0. 004; x2=11. 125 , P =0. 001 ), and most genotypes were GG, followed by CC and GC. Most alleles were G. the frequency of allele G between rupture group and non - rupture group showed statistically significant difference ( P <0. 05 ) . Conclusion There is relationship between the promoter region of IL - 18 gene - 137G/C single nucleotide polymorphism and the pathogenesis and rupture of IAs.关键词
