Abstract

A Safety-Priority Threshold sensitive Clustering routing protocol (SPTC) was proposed to construct wireless sensor network based railway disaster prevention and safety monitoring system on the basis of Threshold sensitive Energy Efficient sensor Network protocol (TEEN ). The network frame of SPTC was presented and according to energy calculation formula, SPTC cluster head distribution algorithm, cluster and vice cluster head election algorithms were designed, and the routing construction steps and the data collection procedures were described. The vice cluster head was introduced in SPTC to guarantee the reliability of data route and the safety of data transmission, and then the safety of the protocol was improved. The little-scale clusters were configured near Sink Node (SN), and the optimal cluster head was selected based on the principle of compromising the residual energy and the distances between nodes to improve energy saving property. SPTC was modeled with the OMNeT++ and the simulation results show that compared with Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH), the number of the low energy nodes in SPTC is decreased by 60% when the network works for 10 000 s. If the disaster data collection probability is 0. 5%, the network detection cycle based on SPTC is 1. 7 times of the cycle based on LEACH.
