Abstract

With the gradual increase of coal seam mining depth, the soft characteristic of roadway surrounding rock is more obvious. The difficulty of roadway supporting in a soft coal seam has bedeviled high-efficient op- eration. Because of the soft coal seam and large surrounding rock deformation in 11011 working face mining roadway of Xinyi coal mine, as well as the current I-beam micro-arch support having difficultly to meet the need of safety production, the paper has analyzed and compared I-beam micro-arch support and U steel outer bar leg support with respect to displacement vector charac.teristics, stress characteristics and the plastic zone of the roadway with the application of numerical simulation software FLAC. The result indicates that U steel outer bar leg support improves wall rock stress, and can effectively control the deformation of surrounding rock. Thusly it is more suitable for soft coal seam features. Industrial experiment is conducted in 12011 belt cross- heading, and the measured deformation shows that U steel outer bar leg support reduces the displacement speed and total displacement of the roof and sides, improves the strength of soft rock roadway, self-supporting capacity and maintains the stability of surrounding rock. The support effect is good, satisfies the requirement of safety production in Xinyi coal mine, and could provide a reference for the roadway support with similar conditions.
