Analysis of Causes of University Students' Chinglish Expressions in English Writing according to Iconicity Principles
摘要
Abstract
The iconicity principles refer to similarities reflected between the meaning of the expression and its pronunciation, form and structure. The iconicity can explain languages' generality. Chinglish expressions in uni- versity students' English writing, which are acceptable in English, can be explained from iconicity in sequence, distance, and amount. The iconicity can also explain languages' special characters. Chinglish expressions which are not in accord with English norms, can be explained from cognitive differences, cultural differences and differ- ences between Chinese and English modes of thinking. University students should analyze the causes of Chinglish expressions and try to improve their ability in English writing.关键词
